Can minors be pierced?
The Parent or guardian MUST BE PRESENT with anyone under 18 to complete the paperwork.  They must also be present during the piercing. Photo ID’s are needed for both the parent and the child.  State drivers license is sufficient for the parent.  A yearbook, or school ID is good for the minor.  If names are different, bring marriage or divorce papers to show name changes.  The photo ID links the minors name to their face.  The birth certificate links the minors name to the parent.  WE NEED TO BE SURE!  A stepparent IS NOT AUTHORIZED. Having the correct paperwork DOES NOT GUARANTEE that the minor will receive a piercing.  We reserve the right to refuse service to minors.  This is not intended to deprive individuals of piercings, but to insure that our clients enjoy successful piercings that will be proud of and enjoy. Parents with minors under sixteen must meet with Tom Austin prior to any piercing being performed.  We are concerned and want our clients to have a positive experience, as such the minor’s maturity and physical size are important factors. IT IS NOT GUARANTEED THAT THEY WILL RECEIVE A PIERCING! Please call to make an appointment with Tom.

In The Skin will NOT perform the following piercings on minors:
ORAL PIERCINGS: Such as tongue, labret, lip or Monroe.  There is the possibility of permanent tooth and/or gum damage with oral piercings, resulting in dental expenses.
SEXUAL/GENITAL PIERCINGS: Yes, we’ve been asked.  NO we won’t.  Enjoy your youth! You’ll get old soon enough.
